The Rec Center employ more than 440
people; more than half are Sun City West residents.

The Association has 29,000 members
and operates on an annual budget of more than $17M. golf and bowlers
pay to bowl. Each does not
subsidize the other.

Each Division is self-sustaining and

of Shared Services, accounting, member services, Human Resources,
Public Relations, the offices of the Board and the General Manager.

Reserve funds have been established for
each division to defray capital improvements and to make repairs and
renovations in that division.

The nine-member Governing Board is
elected by the membership to set policies. The administration and

RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
Sun City West currently has four major
recreation centers scattered throughout the 7000 acres which makes them
easy access by everyone in the community. Where one can find Indoor and
Outdoor Pools, Spas and Fitness Centers with up to date equipment and
inside and outside walk paths for those who like to walk their miles in
specific walking areas.
For the Sun City West citizens the use of
any of these facilities is included in the annual Recreation Fee charge
of $258 per person assessed from every citizen who lives in Sun City
West and a one time Transfer Fee of $ 150 for every home. To keep the
facilities, Parks and all public areas in Sun City West in top-notch
condition, effective July 2001 each new home owner is assessed a $1700
Asset Preservation Fee. If one moves from a SCW home to another SCW
home this charge is waived.
Outdoor Sports
The hottest participation Sports are Golf, Tennis, Swimming,
Shuffleboard, Bocci Lawn Bowls, Softball, Horseshoes, biking and
hiking.
Indoor Sports
Very popular are the Exercise Clubs or Arthritis, Jazzercise classes
Energetics, aquafit stretch and tone and other fitness activities.
Entertainment and Activities
The Arts and Crafts classes are very popular like Silver Craft, Stain
glass, Sewing, Silk Flowers, Ceramic and many others.Very fashionable
are the various Dance Clubs for Line Dance, Country Western, Jazz,
Square Dance, Social Dance and others.The Theater, Music and Classic
Dance Clubs are very active in performances in Sun City West and other
areas.There are the Card and Game Clubs for the card lovers with Bridge,
Pan, Canasta, Ma Jongg and other games.
The largest organization is the prominent
Computer Club “Computer West” with more than 3200 members,
recognized by several large Software Companies including Microsoft. The
club is well organized with many classes in all areas of the PC Software
environment
The Bowling Teams are always looking for
new Bowlers. There are also Billiards, Table Tennis, Racquetball and
other activities.
Golf Courses
Sun City West has four full length golf
courses, three 18 hole executive courses (very challenging) for which an
annual golfing fee of $2000 is assessed each golfer entitling each to
play any of the seven courses, 7 days per week. Golfer Owner Members
can play for $24 per round plus cart charges at anytime. Nine hole
rates are ˝ these charges and twilight rates are even better.
In addition there is a private Golf
Course “Briarwood C.C.” and a public course Hillcrest CG, with a Jacobs Golf School.
Golf Carts:
As a Sun City West resident you are
entitled to use your personal golf cart on the Sun City West courses
without payment of a trail fee. Insurance runs approximately $35-65 per
year with licensing from $40-60 per year. Both electric and gas carts
are available from the many dealers in the local area and one can save
considerably by shopping around for the best price. Most companies
offer a liberal bumper-to-bumper 3 year warranty and will pickup and
deliver your cart when it requires service. Certain tax incentives may
still be available in Arizona for those purchasing an “Alternate Fuel
Vehicle,” like certain electric carts. Check with the Arizona State
Department of Revenue for full particulars.
Helping Hands
located at 14435 R.H. Johnson Blvd., Sun
City West, a nonprofit organization managed by volunteers loans out
disability equipment, baby beds, high chairs rollaway beds and other

Offers a variety of functions.
The
Library managed by paid
Librarians & volunteers is always looking for donation of books in good
condition.
The Men’s Club and Meeting
Rooms are always open to residents.
The Sport Pavilion has a
Bowling Alley, Pool, Shuffle Board and the Pavilion Grill .
Next is the Swimming Pool, Spa, 2
Therapy Pools and the Fitness Center.
The Lecture Hall, Village
Store, Sewing Club, Model Railroad and Ceramics are connected
to the Rec. Center.
The Social hall is used for Dances
and other events.
Next to the pools are Bocce,
Volleyball, Mini Golf, a Playground for the visiting
children, Table Tennis, and the Video Arcade.
Behind the Rec. Center are 15 Tennis Courts
and 8 Platform Courts with a
Pet
Park next door.
Theaters
The Maricopa Center serves as a
Cultural Facility for the Performing Arts, is now owned by
Maricopa County. It can seat
more than 7000 spectators for one event. Sun Bowl Amphitheater,
Sun City uses this for Outdoor Shows
